The “other side” of our program involves the social aspect of life. Equally important and equally offered at Gilda’s Club. While we have always provided workshops and social events to appeal to the community, the past year has seen a focused plan of increasing healthy living workshops and education lectures. We’re pleased that so many members are responding positively to these additions.
Whether you’re going through treatment for cancer or not, creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle should be important for all. Our program staff has worked hard to recruit volunteers and schedule activities that invite members to kick off a healthy lifestyle. Gilda’s Club offers an array of workshops that provide opportunities for relaxing, stretching, strength training and more. We now offer yoga four days a week, plus Tai Chi and Reiki. These workshops are very popular and well-attended by members. Most recently, the program staff added some fun workshops, including Zumba and belly dancing! These are great for helping energize and get the body moving.
We also have been and will continue to offer education lectures that help members focus on good nutrition, manage stress and learn to balance the demands of everyday life and cancer.
If you haven’t tried out these healthy living workshops or education programs, check out the program calendar for dates and times. Then get to the clubhouse and get healthy. The red door is open.
