Gilda, Gilda, How Does Your Garden Grow?
Thanks to the heartfelt design of award-winning architect Ralph Nunez, the magnificent specimen plantings of landscaper Ken Schecter, and the loving care of volunteer gardeners throughout Metro Detroit, Gilda's Gardens provide a stunning outdoor vista for the social and emotional community offered at Gilda's Club Metro Detroit. Nunez, a nationally-known landscape architect, created and donated the landscape plan to honor the memory of his sister, Carmen.
| A series of garden pods, each with a different theme, offers individuals, families and corporations an opportunity to honor someone special through higher-level gifts and garden sponsorships. Those with a love of gardening may contribute to vital garden maintenance through volunteer gardening. |

Various areas of the gardens surrounding the beautifully renovated 1913 clubhouse include a water garden with special perennials and a stone fountain, a shady retreat, and a children's garden with a colorful and playful design. The gardens feature flowering cherry trees, rhododendrons, flowering pear trees, hostas, spruce trees, ash trees, a river beech, and a red maple. There are brick and cobblestone pathways, a vegetable garden, a special exercise area, and a white picket fence surrounding the grounds. |
