Program Manager

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager will have broad responsibilities for programming primarily at the Royal Oak Clubhouse and when assigned, Lake House and Durfee locations. This entails facilitating support groups, coordinating and developing support groups, workshops, general education and the upkeep, maintenance, updates and creativity.  

Essential Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to:  

  • Program planning and execution: Plan, develop and or facilitate groups as assigned, according to the Gilda’s Club philosophy, including Wellness, Family and Friends, Networking, lectures, workshops, social events, Family Focus, and New Member Meeting. 
  • Hospital Partners: Beyond local partner relationships, develop integrative relationships and partnerships in the oncology space. Develop familiarity with potential partners. 
  • Outreach/growth/engagement: Program lead working with Development and Community Engagement team to explore program growth and health equity engagement; Participate in outreach, community events and speaking engagements to build membership and to maintain relationships with referral sources. 
  • Resources: Lead on resource management and referrals program for members. 
  • Evenings, weekends: Conduct oversight of evening programming, staff and volunteers and general clubhouse environment on assigned program nights (2 nights). Commute between the Lakehouse and Durfee Locations on an as assigned.  
  • Oversight: Supervise facilitators, volunteers, and interns as needed 
  • Calendar ownership: Create a monthly calendar for activities within the Royal Oak Clubhouse and associated collateral for programs. 
  • Required documentation/Supervision: Complete program notes on all weekly groups; Participate in individual/group program staff supervision; Assist member data entry. 
  • We are one: Support fundraising activities for Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit ; Assist with general housekeeping duties needed to open, close, and maintain Durfee, as needed; Assist with general housekeeping duties needed to open, close, and maintain the clubhouse, as needed.  

Position Qualifications  

  • Master’s Degree in a mental health field  
  • Minimum three years’ work experience in the mental health field; experience in health related field preferred  
  • Demonstrated sensitivity, understanding and commitment to the Gilda’s Club mission, core values (i.e., respect, integrity, commitment to human services, and excellence), and program (acceptance of Gilda’s Club philosophy).  
  • Knowledge of the local community, cancer support services, and organizations for outreach efforts. 
  • A history of working with diverse populations and a commitment to increasing diversity among staff and members.  
  • Computer, Internet, Social Media, hybrid technology proficiency

Grant Manager

Gilda’s Club seeks a Grant Manager responsible for all grantmaking for the organization with an annual grant goal of $600,000+. The position is fulltime. 

The threads of this role intersect with, and boost, the overall organization. Gilda’s Club has grown exponentially – in locations, reach, revenue and staff. This role embraces that growth and the responsibility to help sustain it. This role assists growth and sustainability of the organization at large which supports, at no charge, psychosocial support, education, wellness and navigational resources for families facing cancer. The Grant Manager reports to the CEO. 

Essential responsibilities of the Grant Manager include but not limited to: 

  • Responsibility for overall grant funding. 
  • Oversight, application and execution of grants. 
  • Responsible for $600,000 annual grant funding goal. 
  • Oversight and management of annual grant funding calendar. 
  • Oversight of individual grant requirements and designation of funds, working collaborative, and with understanding of, the program team and programming. 
  • Stewardship of current funders. 
  • Prospecting new funders, and relapse funders. 
  • Working collaboratively with Marketing and Impact Manager for final grant reports and grants of a more visual, story-telling nature. 
  • Insure accurate & timely management of grant finances/reporting 
  • Welcoming of growth and fiscal goals. 
  • Event sponsorship support. 
  • Support on site, pre-and post for three signature events – working collaboration with development team. 
  • Coaching and Accountability. 

Qualities of successful candidates: 

  • Bachelors degree. Grant certification, training preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate grant and development experience. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and able to handle many grants and tasks in tandem. 
  • Strong skills in project management 
  • Proficient writer with a track record of success in written communication. 
  • A history of working with diverse populations and a commitment to funding that supports diversity, inclusion and under resourced populations. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively, positively in accepting direction and providing direction. 
  • Excellent communicator – written and oral. 
  • Expertise in grant portals and variety of application requirements. 
  • Attention to detail and organized. 
  • Self-starter. 
  • Reference required.

Program Associate

The Program Associate in a ‘floating’ position will utilize their clinical skills, adapted to the Gilda’s Club Program philosophy, in their role as a valued member of our Program Team and staff at large – across multiple locations.  

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Associate will have program-related at the Royal Oak Clubhouse, Lake House and Durfee locations. This entails facilitating support groups, coordinating and developing support groups, workshops, general education and the upkeep, maintenance, updates and creativity.  

Essential Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to:  

  • Child, Teen and Family: Work with the CTF Program Manager to assist with planning, develop and or facilitate groups as assigned, according to the Gilda’s Club philosophy for the Children, Teen & Family Programming at all locations.  
  • Support groups: Facilitate various support groups with an emphasis on but not limited to CTF programming. In-person and virtual gatherings. 
  • Floating: Commute between Gilda’s locations on a routine basis for program and organizational needs. 
  • Grant support: Program grant fulfillment and grant funded projects oversight, working with the Development Director and Program Director.  
  • Technology, Hybrid programming: Provide Virtual Program Assistance when needed 
  • Evening, weekend flexibility: Facilitate Programming (1-2 nights); Possible weekends, as agreed upon, outside the typical work day when needed.  
  • Required documentation/Supervision: Complete program notes on all weekly groups; Participate in individual/group program staff supervision; Assist member data entry. 
  • Growth efforts: Participate in outreach, community events, peaking engagements as assigned, to build membership and to maintain relationships with referral sources.
