Volunteers range from high school students to retirees and can serve weekly or just a few times a year. Explore the opportunities below to see what works best for you!

Fundraising Event Volunteer – Fundraising events throughout the year, raise funds and bring awareness to our program. Opportunities may include helping at registration, passing out t-shirts, cheering on our participants or helping at set-up/clean-up. We have three signature events [Gilda’s Big Night Out, Gilda’s Family Walk & 5K Run and Bras for a Cause] and multiple third party events each year.

Clubhouse Events Volunteer – We are always hosting social events for our members to enjoy. Whether it is Family Fun Day, Game Night or Noogiefest, volunteers are needed to make each social event happen!

Front Desk Volunteer – Be the first smiling face members see as they enter Gilda’s Club! Reception Desk duties include answering the phone, greeting the members, helping them sign in and directing them to their support group meeting, making group reminder phone calls, assisting with mailings, etc. Volunteering at the Reception Desk is a great way to be involved each week, monthly or whenever your schedule allows.

Garden Maintenance Volunteer – Maintenance is needed March – October to keep our gardens warm and welcoming for our members. Opportunities include: planting, weeding, watering and general garden clean-up.

Lecture/Workshop Volunteer – Education is empowering. By providing our members with current knowledge on nutrition, diet, treatment, etc., Gilda’s Club is able to foster not only a community of support, but also information sharing. If you are a professional interested in sharing your knowledge, a lecture or demonstration is the perfect opportunity. We also provide dinner at many of our lectures and are always looking for volunteers in the kitchen to help serve dinner.

Noogieland Volunteers – Meet the children who come to our clubhouse at Family Fun Days, Tiny-Tots Play Groups and various Saturday events. Help those touched by cancer while having some good child-like fun! We also provide free child care in Noogieland (our kids play area) while parents attend adult programming in our clubhouse. (Noogieland Volunteers are required to provide PA Child Abuse History and Criminal Record Check Clearances).

Gilda’s Ambassador Volunteer – Our clubhouse work does not just stop at the clubhouse doors. If you would like to represent Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit in the community (i.e. hospitals, churches, workplaces, high schools, etc) join our Gilda’s Ambassador Program.

Workshops Facilitator Volunteer – Are you certified to teach yoga? Are you extremely artistic? Do you have a special skill you’d like to share with others? By facilitating a workshop at Gilda’s Club, you will assist members as they master new skills. We are always looking for volunteers to lead Music or Healthy Cooking Workshops.
